The stuff legends are made of

You know there’s this great place that few get the opportunity to visit…it’s really the stuff legends are made of. It’s a visit to the back porches of Louisiana around big, black cooking pots, sharing stories with good, ole boys and having a few cold ones.  It’s talking about your mama and ‘em, what your deer season looked like and how’s your new sauce gonna taste.  It’s stirring with a big paddle, turning down the heat to simmer and turning up the Cajun music on the radio.  It’s the place that I often joke we should sell tours to…the most interesting, best tasting, most congenial part of the South…gathering around and making the veille (Cajun for “visit”) while cooking up your family’s dinner.

It’s the premise behind the Larose Regional Park’s Annual Wild Game Supper…. now in it’s 15th year.  We have the best local cooks, well seasoned professional chefs and your neighbor and ‘em that make the best tasting dishes in the South.  The unique spin on this event is the menu: 

Wild Boar, Fried Kangaroo Backstrap, Peppered Yak Hash, Antelope Stew, Smothered Nutria, Rabbit in Apple Sauce, Fried Quail Wings, CrabFricassee, White Oyster Soup, Grilled Bison, Loin, Turtle Soup, Roasted Raccoon, Wild Rice Jambalaya, Duck Spinach Wraps and more!  Hungry yet? Did I mention these dishes are sided with White Beans and Rice, Potato Salad, Fresh French Bread, Hogshead Cheese and then followed by Alimony Pie, Bread Pudding, Cookies and Homemade Cakes? 

Wanna know what happens when you add in the best and most beautiful animal mounts in the United States? When you throw in live music by local favorite Nonc Nu and the Wild Matous featuring favorite songs; White Tail Fever, Doin da Fou and Aaaeee (the Who Dat Saints Anthem) and great drinks and cold beers?  When you have a cigar bar and 900 of the south’s finest gentlemen (and a few brave ladies)?  When you give one night a year to honor what is the best of Louisiana… the tradition, culture and love of all things Cajun… this is the night to celebrate! 

Come and join Larose for our Annual Wild Game Supper, Thursday, March 8th, 2012 with VIP seating beginning at 5:30 pm for a donation of $650 (per table of 8) and 6:45 pm seating for an individual donation of $50 (per 1 tickets).  Sponsorships are also available for corporate tables that come with special treats.  Just ask!
